Bowling Green, Ky. - July 4, 2009 - The creative minds at Hitcents have outdone
themselves again. For 2009 Hitcents is taking their annual fireworks extravaganza to
the next level with an electrically charged presentation. The goal was to make the
presentation more sophisticated and less labor intensive during the show. In previous
years, the Hitcents firework crew had to run about lighting fuses and making sure the
sequence went as planned.
The Inventory
Hitcents motto Dream it Real is a testament to what the Mills literally do with each
project. If a client can dream it, they can do it. In everything they do, they strive
for the most unique and superior solutions.
The Firing Device
The entire model was conceived, designed and built by the think geeks at Hitcents. The
fireworks are glued on plywood and fused together. Each fuse is connected to eMatches
that could light the show with a 12 volt current. An electrical panel was constructed
that consists of relays that control the show by a toggle switch. To start the show, a
specific sequence of buttons must be pressed. A PLC with 72 outputs controls the firing
of the eMatches. The panel is encased with plexiglass that is etched with the Independence
Day-themed Hitcents logo. Two hundred hours of planning and development went into making
this dynamite show.
Hitcents President Chris Mills said, "We plan our show for the wow factor. We measure
that when we impress ourselves by what we set out to do. I’m not easily impressed, but
this fireworks demo is amazing!"
Building the Box
This year’s show will feature more heart-stopping explosions than ever before. By the
numbers, Hitcents will light the skies of Bowling Green with:
|
| |
162 | Fireworks |
29 | Types of fireworks |
8,514 | Total shots |
51,100 | Grams |
20 | Minutes of run time |
|
The show is choreographed with popular selections including our national anthem, The Way
You Make Me Feel, Danger Zone, I Gotta Feeling, and Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.
"It’s great to see what kind of show you can put together with consumer grade products
by just tying together 150+ fireworks." Clinton Mills, CEO of Hitcents said.
Weather is a damper for the second year in a row because of heavy rains, but all fireworks
were waterproofed to help offset this issue. Plans are already in the works for next year’s
show to take the whole presentation electrical without using any fuses.
